How to Apply for an Instagram Verification Badge
An Instagram verified badge is a checkmark that appears next to an account's name in search and on the profile. It means Instagram has confirmed that an account is the authentic presence of the public figure or brand it represents. Receiving coveted checkmark doesn’t come automatically, and you must apply for it.
The process for this is relatively simple, and can be done within the app itself, thanks to new tools released in August 2018. To be verified, an account must comply with Instagram’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Instagram fields verification requests by confirming the authenticity, uniqueness, completeness, and notability of each account.
To access the verification request form, go to your profile, tap the menu icon, select “Settings” at the bottom, and then choose “Request Verification.” You will need to provide your account username, your full name and a copy of your legal or business identification. This information will not be shared publicly.
