How Facebook’s Algorithm Works in 2018

In January, Facebook announced in a post changes to the social network’s News Feed algorithm that would prioritize content from “friends, family, and groups,” ahead of Facebook Pages.

“As we roll this out, you’ll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard—it should encourage “meaningful interactions” between people,” Mark Zuckerberg wrote.

The new algorithm prioritizes “active user interactions,” like commenting and sharing, over likes and click-throughs, which are “passive interactions.” It comes down to users taking more “active” actions requiring additional effort, thus more “meaningful interactions.” Instead of passively scrolling through News Feed and occasionally stopping to “like” a photo, Facebook wants users to be inspired enough by the content they see to engage in conversations with one another.

Considering all of the above, is it really possible to game the Facebook algorithm as a state ARNG Page? While there are no sure fire ways to master the algorithm, there are a few best practices that will help you.
